Hillary was raised in a military family and spent time as a child on both coasts. After finishing high school in Maryland, she came to Michigan (her parents' home state) for college. She got her B.A. in Linguistics from Michigan State University and her M.A. in Higher Education Administration from University of Michigan. She works for Kalamazoo College as an Assistant Director of Admission. Next to sampling good brews, she loves to cook and bake, has gotten pretty in to yoga, is an aspiring runner, likes to sew and quilt, loves dogs, enjoys quirky literature, is a fan of most movie genres (minus horror), and is totally and utterly enamored with her son.
Jeff is a Michigan man through and through. He grew up outside of Ann Arbor and can rattle off some of the most amazing University of Michigan sports trivia; to say that he's a super fan is an understatement. Football Saturdays hold a special place in his heart as they are a gathering of best friends and family, as well as a celebration of sport. He makes it to every home game despite the fact that they live on the West side of the state. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University and has been working for Meijer since 2000. While his love of UM athletics is a borderline singular obsession, he also loves movies (especially what Hillary calls the "based on a true story sports movie"), walks with the dog, good beer (duh), and of course spending time with his amazing little boy.
Jeff and Hillary started dating in 2003 and were married in 2005. One of the first times Jeff met Hillary's dad, they stopped at a liquer store to pick up some beer. Since this was pre-craft brew fever, Jeff picked up a 12 of Labatt's. Hillary's dad looked at him and said, "You're not going to bring that s@#% into my house." Yep, I guess Hillary was destined to be a beer lover if her dad had anything to do with it. Anyways, thankfully this is a passion that they both share. They're both kind of neat freaks and logical thinkers, but they're also very down to earth and open-minded people. They adopted a basset hound named Cooper in April 2010 (he's the sweetest hound dog you'll ever meet) and Hillary gave birth to their son, Graham, in April 2011 (who is the cutest baby in the entire world). Graham has already been to more breweries in his short life than many people we know! Don't worry, though, they are responsible brewery patrons - Hillary is frequently the DD!
